Yellow Grief & Green Optimism
A disturbing end of the year in sight! The news from the Matrix1 are more than worrying, or… am I wrong?
Return of the (cold?) war, energy crisis, accelerated global warming… STOP! Letting yourself be carried away by the media can inhibit any concrete action. Especially now that « news » are becoming more and more…commercial products. How can we dance when futuristic dystopias torment us? What is reassuring is that, despite the storm of negativity, reforestation seems to interest even neoliberals now! Macron promises 1 billion trees, the US and Pakistan too, and Canada 2 billion! Many other ecosystem restoration projects are manifesting from east to west. Even Brazil seems to be waking up! Me too, with my small salary, I plant 5 trees per month through Reforestaction.com. The fable of the hummingbird again? Why not? And what about dance in all of this? The sensitive body is a dancing body. Sensibility and dance connect us to life, even in the hardest moments of our history. I am still touched by the stories and legends of the slaves who worked hard all day long and who, despite everything, danced all night during their “weekends”… Resisting, maintaining one’s culture, reconnecting with others and with nature, meditating on death, mourning…
We too have meditated on death, loss and mourning. Newtopia 10.5 / Enterres Encieux was a strong moment of connection, dance and post-brut images. Four performers and several painters expressed themselves on 7-9 October 2022 at the Chapelle des Frères Mineurs in Tours. The proof in pictures: flickr.com/photos/omnivion/albums/72177720302910977
The Tribute to Roland Lebret, friend and collaborator who passed away in September 2021, brought us together around artistic proposals that warm our hearts. We spoke, played and danced in memory of this passionate and exciting personality who nourished our imaginations and our thinking. Here are some pictures of this meeting organized jointly by Les Arpents d’Art and Omnivion on October 9th : Flickr Omnivion photos
I remain optimistic: I take shape, I plant trees, and I dance!
